Salary/Equity increase exception process, Stipends and COVID-19 Leaves

Thank you for joining us last week for our HR Network meeting. Here are some updates and related documentation for your review:

Salary/Equity increase exception process
In order to help you successfully navigate the new equity increase exception request process, and facilitate consistency across campus, please submit salary increase requests to Compensation (salary-increase-request@berkeley.edu) for review prior to submitting to the campus finance committee.

Compensation will provide a response in no more than 2 business days. The response will include the average salary and average compa-ratio for the individual’s payroll title at Org Levels 2, 3, and 4, along with information regarding potential disparate pay concerns for the proposed salary increase. For guidance about factors to consider when consulting with Managers about proposed salary increases, please refer to this Compensation page on our website and then to the ‘Salary setting’ drop-down box.

Stipends

J also shared the attached presentation during our meeting on Using Administrative Stipends. As you may be aware, stipends are not subject to the freeze on equity increases. Stipends are permitted in accordance with the procedure 30 guidelines and PPSM 30 (Compensation).

Leaves related to COVID-19

Finally, Jan Crosbie-Taylor shared this presentation on the leaves that are currently available as related to coronavirus. This information is also available in our Hot Topic FAQ’s and in the COVID-19 Resources page on the HR website.
